The contestants of the first season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter Latin America, José Alberto Quiñónez and Diego Rivas, faced each other in the opening fight of UFC Mexico. The fighter from Zacatecas returned to the octagon and triumphed after almost a year of absence. His opponent had not fought since February 2016, as he was battling against cancer, which he overcame.
After three rounds of dominating the exchange, the fight went to the judges' decision, who declared Quiñónez the winner, breaking the Chilean's perfect streak.
