Louis van Gaal
continues to strain the David de Gea affair. The goalkeeper did not play in the first two friendly matches of Manchester United in the United States, against America and San Jose Earthquakes (with victories of 1-0 and 3-1 respectively), but he could play next Saturday against Barcelona.
De Gea actively participated in the warm-up prior to the match against the Californian team without showing any signs of being injured. After the match, Van Gaal commented: "I have a strong hope that he will be able to play against Barcelona. He didn't play against San Jose because he had not yet recovered from the injury. Neither did Anders Lindegaard. I thought it was not appropriate to take risks. But against Barça, I think he will be able to play."
Van Gaal remained tight-lipped about a possible transfer of Di María to Paris Saint Germain: "I cannot respond to that. You can keep asking, but this is a process. When we have something to say, we will."
