Joselu will play for Stoke City next season
Joselu will play for Stoke City next season after the Premier League club paid 8 million euros to Hannover for the transfer of the former Real Madrid forward.
After the successful signings of Bojan (who was one of the revelations of the Premier League until his injury) and Marc Muniesa, Mark Hughes has once again set his sights on a Spanish player to strengthen his squad. "Joselu has an excellent resume. He is a player we have been following for some time," admitted the Potters coach, who added: "He has different qualities than those we have in the squad and will serve to complement the forwards we have at our disposal. The player is delighted with the opportunity to play in the Premier League and we are delighted to have him with us."
The former Real Madrid forward arrives after scoring 8 goals in 30 appearances with Hannover and with the idea of becoming the long-term replacement for Peter Crouch, who is already 34 years old.
"Joselu was one of our key targets for this summer. We are delighted to have completed his signing. Despite having offers from other European clubs, Joselu has decided to join Stoke City to fulfill his goals," acknowledged club president Tony Scholes.
The Spanish player spent three seasons in the Bundesliga. He arrived at Hoffenheim in the 2012-13 season, which paid 6 million euros to Real Madrid for his signing. The following season, he played on loan at Eintracht, until last summer when he was transferred to Hannover in exchange for 5 million.
