Player from Recreativo IES La Orden, Pablo Abián, in his "best moment" to face Russian Open

The international badminton player, gold medalist in the European Games in Baku, said in a statement that he hopes to "continue earning points" in this competition to get closer to his goal of participating in his third Olympic Games in Rio 2016.

The player from Zaragoza has traveled to the Russian city of Vladivostok, where he will debut on Tuesday in the round of thirty-two finals against Slovenian Iztok Utrosa (ranked 106th in the world), whom Abián has defeated in the three previous occasions they have faced each other.

This tournament will serve Abián to continue his preparation for the World Championships that will take place in Indonesia next August.

The good results of the Aragonese player in the Spanish International, where he won the gold medal, and in the 'White Nights' in Russia, where he won the bronze, have allowed him in recent months to reach the 43rd place in the world ranking.

In Russia, he will face top players, among whom he highlighted the 16th-ranked Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto, whom he would face in the quarterfinals.
