Miguel Herrera, Mexico's coach: "We haven't won anything"

The Mexican coach Miguel Herrera, who enjoyed another victory of the team "Tricolor" after winning 1-0 against Costa Rica in the quarter-final match of the Concacaf Gold Cup 2015, said that they had not won anything yet.

"It is true that now the team has more chances to fight for the title, but we have not won anything yet," Herrera declared. "Now we will arrive in Atlanta to face Panama and our goal will be to win again in order to reach the final."

Herrera reiterated that defeating Costa Rica, an important rival, is doubly satisfying for everyone in the team because they played well and dominated.

"We were able to play against a difficult rival, who although had not scored goals in the previous three matches, was always a protagonist. Now we will do the same with Panama, of whom we will have all the information that helps the players improve their performance," Herrera commented.

The Mexican coach recalled that in order for the success to be complete in the Gold Cup, they still have to win two more matches, something that has not yet happened.

"We have achieved nothing, we have only won one match against a difficult rival, but we are aware that the real triumph will come when we reach two more victories," Herrera pointed out.

When evaluating what happened on the field during the match against Costa Rica and the controversial penalty that defined Mexico's victory, Herrera pointed out that they had control of the game, created more goal opportunities, and that in the penalty play, although he couldn't see it well, the forward Oribe Peralta, who was the protagonist with his fall, told him that he had been pushed.

"I think the referees were closer to the action and they saw it better, so there is nothing to argue," Herrera commented. "They saw it better."

"The team is committed to winning, and therefore we must seek the results that allow us to achieve that common goal, which is the only thing that should unite us above whoever is on the field," Herrera said, who said that he will not force the return of Giovani Dos Santos until he is fully recovered from the groin injury he has in his left leg.

"Giovani will continue to be monitored and I have told him that he will have to be one hundred percent when he returns to play, but if he feels any kind of discomfort, his return will not be risked," Herrera emphasized. "We have other players like Pimentel and Corona who are always a boost when they come on the field."

Mexico, which gathered 74,187 spectators at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, received the news that all the tickets for the Georgia Dome on Wednesday's match against Panama have been sold out, where the United States and Jamaica will also play in the first semifinal match.
