Erika Olivera valued the eleventh place she achieved in the marathon, the event with which athletics began at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
The national athlete described the race as one of the toughest she has had in this type of competition, in which she achieved a final time of 2 hours, 52 minutes and 27 seconds.
"This race was a slaughterhouse, because it was a very tough course. It was one of the toughest I've run in a Pan American Games. There was a moment when my legs seemed like they couldn't go on, but my mind said the opposite."
Particularly, facing that fact, she acknowledged that in the second part her goal was just to finish the competition.
"I was only concerned about finishing. I knew what was coming. My goal was to finish. But I am satisfied to have finished. This is my last Pan American Games. It was a way to thank the country and the people who have always supported me," she concluded.
