Coahuila Men's Wrestling Team Wins 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze in the Third Day of Competitions at the National Olympics

With these victories, Coahuila reaches 30 gold medals, 21 from the Olympics and 9 from the Youth National Olympics.

Saltillo native Juan Carlos Lavat Cortés became the Pentacampeón of the National Olympics in the Cadet 42 kilos category. He had no problems in his two final matches.

In the semifinal, he easily defeated Saúl Raziel from Oaxaca 10-0, and in the final, he defeated Joel Sánchez from Quintana Roo 11-0 to become champion again, just like he did for the first time in Aguascalientes in 2013.

In the Wrestling Olympics, the Coahuila team has won 10 medals out of the 10 participants who have competed in the three days of competition.

The other gold medal was won by Pedro Garay López, also from Saltillo, who had no problems in the 85 kilos category in the Cadet division. He advanced to the semifinals, where he defeated Alexis Rodríguez from Jalisco 10-0. In the final, he beat Edwin Corona from UNAM 11-2 to become champion in this division.

Finally, Jesús Emmanuel Arzola, who has brought many satisfactions to Coahuila in Wrestling, in the Juvenile division in 73 kilos, also reached this stage without a single defeat. In the semifinal, he defeated Salomón Corteza from Oaxaca 10-0, and in the fight for gold, he lost 8-11 against Raúl Palacios from Monterrey, winning the silver medal.

The Coahuila team, accustomed to intense training under the guidance of Noel Gutiérrez, José Antonio García, and Miguel Tachin Alonso, has excelled in the physical aspect, which has paid off.

The other two competitors, Isaac Álfaro del Río in the Schoolboy 58 kilos category, won the bronze medal after losing in the semifinals against Yahir Manzanero from Quintana Roo.

Meanwhile, Ángel Gabriel Flores de la Fuente in the Schoolboy 73 kilos category had the most matches of the day. He also lost in the semifinals against Jorge de la O from Tabasco, winning the bronze medal.
