The American fighter Sage Northcutt talked today about the Peruvian Claudio Puelles, whom he will face on July 29 at UFC 214, to be held in Anaheim, California.

"I know he is from Peru and he was a finalist on TUF [The Ultimate Fighter]. It will be a great fight, a very interesting fight: we are both young, it will be a very exciting fight," said the American athlete on "The MMA Hour" program.

Sage Northcutt and Claudio Puelles, both 21 years old, will have a three-round fight in the Lightweight division (155 lbs). This will be 'Niño's first fight after the final of TUF Latin America 3, an event where DT El Comercio was present.

Northcutt returns to the Lightweight division after suffering a submission defeat in the second round against Mickey Gall in December of last year. That fight was agreed in the Welterweight division (170 lbs).

"For now, this is my weight division. I reach the weight easily, I feel stronger, faster. I know I'm going to be better than ever. I have better prepared my strength, my speed, my cardio and my breathing," said 'Super Sage'.

In an interview with DT El Comercio, Claudio Puelles said that he was offered to face Northcutt at UFC 211, held on May 13th in Dallas, Texas. However, he preferred to let that opportunity pass.

"It was the fight I had asked for, but I needed more preparation. I had just returned from my vacation and I was not one hundred percent. For me, the important thing is to win my fights, I prefer to go slow rather than risk myself at this moment," said the national athlete.

Northcutt has a professional record of eight wins, four of them by knockout or technical knockout, and two losses. Claudio Puelles, meanwhile, has seven wins, four by submission, and two losses.
