Nairo Quintana: 'Attack tomorrow? It could be possible'

The Colombian cyclist Nairo Quintana hinted that he will seek an attack on Thursday that brings him closer to the first position of the Tour de France, held by the British Chris Froome, to at least reduce the three-minute gap in the arrival at Plateau de Beille.

"Attack tomorrow? It could be possible, we will wait and see; let's see how Chris (Froome) is doing and if I find myself with good legs again, why not try it. Depending on how I see the rivals, we could move the race with the team," warned the Colombian rider, who is 3 minutes and 9 seconds behind the yellow jersey.

In relation to this Wednesday's stage, the eleventh, Quintana acknowledged the difficulty due to the high temperatures. "It has been a very hot day, too much. We have gone quite fast all day, there have been many attacks from the start and in the end some riders who were far in the general classification have gone to the front," he said.

"With the speed we were going and no opportunity to do anything, from that point on, our intention has been to 'get through the day' and wait to see what we can do in the coming stages. These stages accumulate and fatigue weighs on each one of us. We have had good sensations and that is important; to continue day by day," he concluded.
