Villar does not want to respond to Tebas, who is expecting a change in the RFEF elections.

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Ángel María Villar

has avoided responding to the president of the Professional Football League (LFP), Javier Tebas, and has reiterated that he is running for re-election in the elections next year because "a sector of Spanish football" has asked him to do so.

"I am delighted to interact with everyone, delighted. A sector of Spanish football has asked me to run and if God wants, I will run; then we will see if they vote for me or not," Villar said to journalists, after attending the inauguration of the new Coia football field in Vigo (Pontevedra).

Asked about Tebas' statements, who said yesterday that the first thing he would change in the Federation is "the president" and that he hopes there will be a candidate who defeats him in the January elections, Villar said: "I do not respond to that."

Likewise, the president of the RFEF has once again shown his support for the federative head of women's football, Vicente Temprado, and the coach of the national team, Ignacio Quereda, for the "recent successes achieved."

"We must congratulate the players, all the technicians, and especially the women's football commission, which has Vicente Temprado as its president, and the coach who made it possible for Spain to participate in the women's World Cup," he commented.

"It has been a historic year, the most important in the history of Spanish women's football," Villar stated, recalling the "historic" participation of the national team in the World Cup and the championship title achieved by the U-17 National Team in the European Championship.
