Uruguay still hasn't healed the wounds from the Copa America
The Uruguayans are still reeling from their elimination in the quarterfinals against Chile, and now it was Jorge Fucile's turn, who aimed his darts at Alexis Sanchez.
During a conversation with Fox Sports, Fucile was asked about the tough foul on Alexis Sanchez that led to his expulsion at the end of the match, and the defender surprised with his response: "Any player would jump in that play, but it seems that this guy has a mental problem. I'll take him with me."
In addition, Fucile revealed that during the game, Sanchez pressured the referee with his complaints: "'Referee, they're hitting me, they're hitting me'... I couldn't believe it. The referee replied, 'you guys are doing your job well, leave them alone'."
After the match, Sanchez confessed that a Uruguayan player had apologized to him for all the fouls he received, and Fucile considered it "a lack of class, it totally surprised me. I don't know how to call that kind of person. Just by saying that his legs were shaking."
Finally, Fucile criticized Chile's accusation against the Uruguayan players for attempted aggression against the referees: "It's madness. The referee was favoring Chile, and when he expelled me, I spoke to him politely. We're all accused, but it was because of what happened with Cavani."
