Iker Casillas landed in Porto at 21:00 CET on Monday ahead of being presented as a Porto player for the next two seasons. Around a hundred Porto fans travelled to the Francisco Sá Carneiro airport to welcome the former Real Madrid goalkeeper to the city.
Amongst the supporters were the leaders of the fan clubs of the Dragons who started to arrive at the VIP area of the airport at 19:00. Casillas arrived with his agent and 40 minutes after his plane landed he was shown to a car with some of the Porto executives before going for dinner with club president Jorge Pinto da Costa. On leaving the airport, Casillas received his first signs of love from his new fans, who tried to chase the car and chanted his name.
The 34-year-old will have his medical tomorrow at the club’s training base before flying to Horst (in the Netherlands) to join up with the rest of the squad on pre-season.
