CAMBRIDGE — Third graders in Dorchester County recently received dictionaries in a renewed effort by the Rotary Club of Cambridge.
The club revived a two decade long project that had be put on hold for two years due to COVID.
Rotary Club member Phil Reed said the dictionaries the Rotarians donate are much more than just a dictionary and include information about all 50 states, countries around the world, the presidents of the US, geography, the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and more.
“For many recipients, their faces beam when they receive the books, often the only book they own,” Reed said.
The Dictionary Project began during the presidency of Roger Harrell and has continued reinforcing Rotary International’s push to improve literacy worldwide.
