Out of sacrifice by Orlando Piña in the top of the second inning, broke the tie at one, with which the Guerreros de Oaxaca secured the first game of the series, defeating the Pericos de Puebla by a tight score of 3 runs to 2, in a game played on Tuesday night at Parque de los Hermanos Serdán.
Pericos opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a ground ball by Danny Ortiz that brought in Miguel Guzmán for the 1-0 which was encouraging, but it quickly sparked the response from the "warriors" who immediately countered the offense to take the lead.
Right at the start of the second inning, Juan Camacho took the stage with a productive double, tying the game thanks to Justin Byrd who made it to home, starting a new game with the 1-1 that initially favored the visitors.
And it was precisely in that same inning, Oaxaca turned the tables with a sacrifice out by Orlando Piña, which Gabriel Lino took advantage of and headed for home, thus sealing the 1-2 that surprised the emerald cause, who couldn't believe what had happened.
This motivated the "Verde Antequera" team, who in the top of the third inning increased their lead with a ground ball by Justin Byrd, which brought Carlos Figueroa home with the 1-3 that silenced the stands of the feathered nest, forcing the reaction of the home team, which came up short.
It was precisely in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Puebla tried to respond with a single by Armando Aguilar, which drove in Luis Medina for the 2-3 which was encouraging, but not enough, as the visitors managed to get out of trouble and head for victory on enemy turf.
The winner was Gerardo Sánchez, who in relief, after pitching for one inning, struck out one opponent, while the loss went to Braulio Torres-Pérez. This Wednesday, the second game will be played at 7:30 p.m. in the same venue, where the green team will try to even the score.
