About 165 surfers will compete in the Peru Bicentennial Cup, the second stop of the Alas Pro Tour circuit, which will take place at Punta Rocas beach in Lima from October 29 to 31.
Surfers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, United States, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Peru will participate in the tournament.
The competition venue will be the same as the one used for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, with categories divided into men, women, longboard, and paddle surfing.
The hosts will present a stellar team, including surfers Vania Torres, Daniela Rosas, Analí Gómez, Miguel Tudela, María Fernanda Reyes, Alonso Correa, Piccolo Clemente, and Lucca Mesinas, who recently placed among the top eight in the third challenger of the World Surf League, held in France.
"The best of Peru will compete. Many of us participated in the Pan American Games. In my case, I feel anxious to return to competition after a long time," said Torres.
Punta Rocas has become one of the main surf venues in South America since the Pan American Games, thanks to the high-performance center built on the shores of the beach.
The facilities, managed by the Lima 2019 Legacy Project, cover more than 21,000 square meters and include a judging area, a fully equipped gym, a 25-meter long and 5-meter deep swimming pool, and an official-sized sand training field for beach sports practice.
