Javier Mascherano could not shine in the so-called Yellow Night of the Ecuadorian club Barcelona, due to the absence of fans in the stands, kept away by the coronavirus pandemic, and by the rain that fell on Guayaquil.
In the friendly match for the official presentation of Ecuador's most popular team, Barcelona faced the demanding Nueve de Octubre with little clarity and football effectiveness, which led to a 1-1 draw.
Several players from the visiting team played with excessive force, as a result of which midfielder Eder Cetre committed a foul against the invited figure, Mascherano, so the referee of the match, Jaime Sánchez, cautioned the offender, when his expulsion was being demanded.
