London -

Fans will return to English stadiums in areas with lower risk of COVID-19 infection when the current lockdown in England ends on December 2nd.

Up to a maximum of 4,000 people will be able to attend outdoor sports events, according to the BBC.

This measure, highlighted the same source, will be announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on Monday night.

The British government will restore the pre-lockdown tier system, with some areas being in level 3, with higher risk of contagion, and others in level 2 or 1, depending on their lower risk.

In level 2 areas, the maximum number of people allowed into stadiums will be 2,000, while in level 3 there will be no one allowed and restrictions will remain in place.

It will be the first time since March that official matches will be able to host spectators.

Prior to the start of the season, tests were conducted in friendly matches, with a maximum of 2,500 people, but the gradual return plan from October 1st had to be delayed due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom. (D)
