Bolivia will face Brazil in the first match of the South American qualifiers for Qatar 2022.

The goalkeeper of the Bolivian national football team, Carlos Lampe, stated on Monday that the "Verde" will give "a headache" to Brazil in the first match of the South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"We are going to give Brazil a headache and we are going to bring something from there," Lampe said, according to a press release from the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF).

The goalkeeper for Always Ready in El Alto expressed confidence that the preparation being carried out by the Bolivian team under Venezuelan coach César Farías for the past two weeks will yield "good results."

The Bolivian federation's note recalls the 0-0 draw recorded in La Paz in October 2017 during the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when the "Giant" Lampe shone by containing Brazilian attacks, particularly those of Neymar.

That performance by the 1.92-meter-tall goalkeeper earned him praise from Brazilian coach Adenor Leonardo Bachi, 'Tite,' and an exchange of shirts with Neymar.

Bolivia will visit Brazil on October 8 in the first round of the South American qualifiers, which were supposed to start last March but were suspended, along with other sports competitions, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On October 13, the Verde will host Argentina in La Paz in the second round, a match in which they are also aiming for a good result, according to Lampe.

"Personally, I haven't lost in the city of La Paz since my debut, and I want that to continue with our national team in this new process, in our home, and that is the objective we have set for ourselves, to dominate all rivals," said the goalkeeper, according to the statement.

The players called up by Farías are training in the eastern city of Santa Cruz under strict biosafety protocols, which include taking rapid tests for COVID-19 every four days, according to information from the FBF. EFE
