Bolivian goalkeeper Carlos Lampe, from the national team and Always Ready of El Alto, reported on Tuesday that he and his wife have overcome COVID-19, so he was able to reunite with his daughters.

"We were able to defeat the virus and we are in perfect condition, thanks to God we can be with our family again", Lampe wrote on his Facebook account, accompanied by a photograph with his wife and two daughters.

The Bolivian goalkeeper, who played for teams such as Boca Juniors and the Chilean Huachipato, thanked the doctors who attended to his case and that of his wife, as well as all the people who wished him a speedy recovery.

Lampe announced that he and his wife were battling COVID-19 on June 24 through social media and mentioned that due to this situation, he had to separate from his daughters to avoid infecting them and stay in isolation in his hometown Santa Cruz, one of the hardest hit by the pandemic in Bolivia.

In the ranks of Always Ready, Lampe's current club, there are at least five positive cases of COVID-19, including Bolivians Edemir Rodríguez, Hernán Cardozo, and Josue Mamani, as well as two members of the coaching staff, assistant coach Jaime Jemio and goalkeeper coach Roberto Ariñez.

In the last few hours, the club from El Alto reported that they are looking for a space in a public or private hospital to admit Ariñez, due to the saturation of hospitals in the country, many of which are overwhelmed by the influx of patients.

In addition to them, Moisés Villarroel from Wilsterman; Álex Pontons and Diego Medinacelly from Real Santa Cruz; Marcos Andia and Ricardo Suárez from Guabirá; and the coach of Aurora, Julio César Baldivieso, have also been infected.

Two vice presidents of the Bolivian Football Federation also tested positive, as well as former World Cup player William Ramallo.

Bolivia is under a state of health emergency, with a quarantine that has been extended in phases since it was declared in March when the first cases appeared. Currently, Bolivia reports 1,476 deaths and 40,509 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the country. EFE
