The UFC mourns the death of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father and trainer of the Russian champion Khabib Nurmagomedov
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov (53), father and trainer of the Russian champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, died this Friday in a Moscow hospital due to complications from the coronavirus.
RT reported that Abdulmanap suffered a heart attack after testing positive for the virus. "That condition required emergency surgery, after which he was put into an induced coma. After remaining in resuscitation due to his delicate but stable condition, the doctors reported his death this Friday," the Russian media outlet added.
The condition of the mixed martial arts trainer was very delicate after contracting COVID-19 in his homeland, the Republic of Dagestan, in April. On June 22, his son confirmed that his father had tested positive.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, world lightweight champion, had a great relationship with his father. Many times in the octagon and in front of thousands of spectators, he thanked him for everything he taught him.
