Olivier Giroud, Chelsea player, admitted that one of the reasons he decided not to leave the English club is because of the coronavirus.

The French forward's contract with Chelsea was due to expire at the end of June, but he reached an agreement with the club to extend it for another year.

"I seized my opportunities and regained the coach's trust. That's why the club offered me the chance to stay and I accepted. I like being here and I want to keep winning titles," Giroud explained on Chelsea's website.

However, the coronavirus pandemic also played a significant role in his decision.

"Furthermore, with the whole coronavirus situation, I didn't feel very comfortable with the idea of going abroad and taking my family out of their environment. I think a lot about the quality of life and we have a good home here," added the Frenchman.
