Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced that Peruvian forward Yordy Reyna will be subjected to mandatory quarantine for not complying with the club and MLS rules on mandatory social isolation. What happened? What did he do? The institution did not provide more details, but they came to light anyway.

The Global News news program in Canada broadcast a report about people gathering at the Andy Livingston in Vancouver to play soccer during the COVID-19 pandemic. In those images, Yordy Reyna can be seen. The club immediately took action.

The striker must comply with 14 days of mandatory quarantine as a precautionary measure because by being exposed to so many people, he may have contracted the virus and be asymptomatic.

This incident has been reported to the MLS, which could sanction the player with a heavy fine. The US soccer league had just given the green light for teams to resume practices this Wednesday in states where these types of sports activities are allowed, excluding more than half of the league for now.

"I deeply regret my actions and apologize to the community, my teammates, and coaches," said Yordy Reyna in the statement released by his club.
