The América from Mexico considers the possibility of reintegrating Ecuadorian right winger Renato Ibarra into their ranks, separated from the Mexican club since mid-March due to the domestic violence scandal of assaulting the mother of his children, Lucely Chalá.
Ibarra spent a few days in jail and was released after reaching an agreement with the woman. He was removed from the squad because he violated the clause of his contract that he must not be involved in scandals. A condition imposed by the Mexican club after the controversial case of Paraguayan Salvador Cabañas, who was shot in the head in a nightclub bathroom in 2010.
Now, the Mexican media echoes the intentions of the Águilas to reincorporate the 29-year-old midfielder, who has been one of the key figures in winning three titles (Liga Mx in 2018, Copa Mx in 2019, and the Champion of Champions trophy in 2019).
And former Chilean striker Carlos Reinoso, the eighth all-time leading scorer for América with 95 goals, commented: "No, I would not allow Ibarra to return to América, we are living terrible things in this country, regarding insecurity, and the lack of respect for women and this happens in a football team."
"I did not even want to watch the video and I would not let him play. And he plays very well and he's a guy that I liked from the outside. But no, these things should not happen in América or any professional team," added Reinoso, who as a coach won with the Azulcremas in the 1983-1984 season, in a conversation with the international chain ESPN.
After the legal problem, Ibarra is with his family in Mexico facing the pandemic of the coronavirus that has paralyzed all football leagues. During this stoppage, it was known that Cruz Azul and other teams were interested in signing him, and his transfer is valued at $5 million. (D)
