Colombia did not request to be an alternative host for the Copa America Centenario in case the United States renounces to organize it, but "is more than capable to do it," said the president of the local soccer federation, Luis Bedoya, on Tuesday.
"It is not true that we have requested it (the organization of the tournament), it is not true that there has been a possibility of it taking place in South America," said Bedoya to Caracol radio, contradicting the proposal that Chile is planning.

Bedoya ensured that in the meeting on Thursday in Asuncion (Paraguay) there will be a reunion of the executive committee of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) to discuss the reports related to the organization of the tournament in the United States next year.
"I imagine that is where decisions will start to be made," said the president of the Colombian Federation.
The last edition of the Copa America was played in Chile between June 4 and July 11 and was won by the host country for the first time in its history. (SOURCE: AFP)
