Three football players from Club Italiano in the Caballito neighborhood of Buenos Aires died in a traffic accident in the Argentine province of La Pampa (center), and their remains will be bid farewell this Monday, team sources reported today.

The deceased young men are Santiago Surraco, Diego Ceretti, and Claudio Belaunzaran, who were between 25 and 26 years old, as detailed by La Pampa's Textual newspaper.

The accident occurred this Saturday when the vehicle carrying the team overturned from Buenos Aires to Esquel, in the province of Chubut, about 1800 kilometers away.

The investigation points to a supposed defect in one of the wheels of the van in which they were traveling at kilometer 303 of Route 20, better known as the "Desert Route," in La Pampa.

In addition to the fatalities, three people were injured.

"The families of Club Italiano accompany in their pain the relatives and friends of the young players from the 'La Cantera' team who participated in our club's soccer. Our condolences to all of them," the team explained on its Facebook social media account.

The Club Italiano, a social, cultural, and sports institution with over 100 years of history, also explained that the bodies of the young men, after being wake on Sunday in Buenos Aires, will receive the last goodbye on Monday at the Chacarita cemetery.
