Rally Dakar 2017
The Rally Dakar 2017, which for the ninth consecutive time takes place in South America, with Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay as its setting, is full of unexpected events, as it is one of the most demanding races in the world.
During the development of the eighth stage of the Dakar in motorcycles, one of those unexpected events occurred with the Spanish rider Joan Barreda Bort, whose vehicle got stuck in the mud formed by the relentless rains.
As seen in the video, Barreda went through a difficult moment when his Honda vehicle got trapped in the mud. The Tuesday stage, which connected Uyuni (Bolivia) with Salta (Argentina) through the province of Jujuy, had been shortened on Monday due to the overflow of a river.
Strong rains have been affecting Bolivia since Friday. Fortunately for the Spanish rider, this did not prevent him from winning the eighth stage with a time of 4:28:21 hours, followed by the Austrian Matthias Walkner (KTM) and the British Sam Sunderland (KTM).
The Dakar continues until January 14, when the heroes of the 39th edition will arrive in Buenos Aires.
