The eighth edition of the 7K Cristo de las Noas athletic race will take place next Sunday, where it is expected that more than a thousand competitors will participate in a test that will face the challenge of climbing the hill.
More than 700 people have already registered, so it is estimated that by Saturday they will reach the limit of the available 1200 spots.
This Wednesday, the presentation of this competition took place, by Father José Escamilla, responsible for the Religious and Tourist Complex of Cristo de las Noas, along with Alfredo Alemán Baños, director of Promotora Atlética Laguna, and Alina Garza Herrera, director of the Municipal Sports Institute.
Alfredo Alemán explained that the start will be at 8:00 a.m. from Catedral del Carmen, through Matamoros Avenue, then a circuit on Paseo Colón and from there, heading towards the Comonfort parallel road, which will lead to the Mieleras boulevard and from there to the uphill of Cerro de las Noas.
He stated that it will be a one-kilometer climb, which is the most demanding part of the entire route, to finish at the parking lot at the foot of Cristo de las Noas, where the award ceremony and gift raffle will take place.
The categories are: 15-19 years old, 20-29 years old, 30-39 years old, 40-49 years old, 50-59 years old, 60-69 years old, and 70 years old and older, for both men and women.
"We have already had two training sessions, last Thursday and Saturday, a large number of people joined us to get to know the route and prepare for the competition itself, where we hope to have a significant number of men and women," commented Alemán Baños.
Father Escamilla highlighted the support that this race has received from the municipality, in addition to the cable car project, which he considers will have a great impact on tourism in this complex and throughout the city.
Alina Garza, in turn, mentioned the growth that Torreón has achieved in the field of athletic races, so much so that it has become one of the cities where the most races of this nature are held throughout the year, which contributes to promoting good habits and health through exercise.
The registration fee is 180 pesos, interested parties can go to Bosque Venustiano Carranza with Yayo, as well as the Innova Sport stores in Gómez Palacio and Lerdo.
The package delivery will take place on Saturday at the Honda facilities on Independencia boulevard, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The runner is entitled to a sweatshirt, official number, chip for the electronic registration of their time, as well as their recovery package, which will be delivered upon crossing the finish line.
This is the eighth edition of this 7-kilometer race, which was born 10 years ago at the initiative of Father José Rodríguez Tenorio, but paused for two years due to the prevailing insecurity conditions at that time.
