With the inclusion of hundreds of participants, the CDMX Stage by Le Tour de France completed the first individual time trial, which took place at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome.
Waiting for the road race to take place on Sunday, today the individual time trial was held, where the ambassador of the Stage, Spanish cyclist Carlos Sastre, winner of the Tour de France in 2008, was the first one to start on the track at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome.
Sastre participated in the VIP group, which included about seven more cyclists. Then the overall female and male groups were allowed to start, followed by an amateur sector so that each of the participants could record their time and complete three laps of the circuit.
This trial marked the beginning of this event, which will take place in Mexico for the next two years with the prestigious branding of the Tour de France, one of the three Grand Tours, along with the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España.
More than a competition, it was a moment for gathering and recreation to promote cycling practice in the country, in a venue that showed good conditions and was prepared for the Formula One date, the Mexican Grand Prix, which will take place in October.
On Saturday, hundreds of cycling enthusiasts participated in this trial, a warm-up for the road race, which will start from this motorsport venue tomorrow and then go through the main streets of Mexico City, such as Periferico, Circuito Interior, and Viaducto, concluding at the same location.
The route for this Sunday will have a short distance of 75 kilometers and a long one of 135, where each cyclist completing the route will receive a commemorative medal and the first place winner will be awarded a trophy. Carlos Sastre will be present to encourage the competition.
