Sergio Perez's great race in Singapore

Mexican driver Sergio Perez had an impressive comeback that earned him points when the situation looked complicated, while also maintaining his flawless record at Marina Bay Circuit, scoring in all his six years in the category.

After adding four points to his personal count with an eighth place finish despite the penalty imposed on him during qualifying on Saturday, he managed to recover on a track that traditionally poses difficulties for overtaking.

"It's one of the best races I've had in Formula One. Keeping the tire wear for more than 30 laps has been incredible," said Perez.

He acknowledged that Singapore is his lucky circuit. "The truth is that it treats me very well, not so much on Saturdays, but on Sundays, yes."

Despite the good result, he admitted that he had to push to the limit and come up with a one-stop plan to maximize his chances. "It was a very tough race starting from the grid and the safety car. We lost time in the first stint due to traffic."

He said that, given the circumstances, he did everything possible to hold onto his position, which was threatened by Russian driver Daniil Kvyat in the final laps. "We managed an intelligent race according to what we had, and that made the difference."
