Thanks to a different, more daring strategy, with three pit stops to change tires (instead of Rosberg's two), Ricciardo, with Pirelli super soft tires, finished just behind, half a second behind Rosberg, with soft tires.

The race, which took place at night on the Singapore street circuit, started with a neutralization of several minutes due to the crash of the German Nico Hülkenberg (Force India) with the Toro Rosso of Carlos Sainz, who preceded him on the grid.
Both Ferraris finished just off the podium, with Kimi Raikkonen in 4th and Sebastian Vettel in 5th, after starting from the 22nd and last position on the grid.
