Future of Mexican driver Sergio Pérez still uncertain, says Carlos Slim Domit
The president of Escudería Telmex, Carlos Slim Domit, expressed that the future of Mexican driver Sergio Pérez is still undecided, as there are teams interested in him for the next season, but the most competitive option is being sought.
"It is still premature to know what will happen. Formula One restarts this weekend, both Sergio and Esteban (Gutiérrez) are motivated for the return of this second season and hoping to have a good weekend. As the year progresses, we will continue to discuss what options there are," he said in an interview with Notimex.
The main financial support of the driver commented, during the presentation of the Carrera Panamericana, that due to the good performance that "Checo" is having, there is interest from other teams.
He indicated that they are still considering what can serve him for the next season to fight for more podiums and maybe even for victory, so nothing is closed and they remain patient with the timing.
"He has done a great job, it is the best season of his career, but also for Force India, there has been very good communication with the team and when a team has results, it is normal that there are interested people, we are not closed to any option," pointed out Slim Domit.
Regarding Esteban Gutiérrez, he denied any concern about the performance he is having this season and the rumors that suggest there will be no renewal with the Haas team for the following year, and he may be left without a seat again.
"I think Esteban has done a great job, he comes from a year of being under the car, he had some problems with a car, which unfortunately did not allow him to complete some races," he pointed out.
He said that despite this, he has finished them and has been ahead of his teammate, doing a great job, "in the second half of the season he will come to show what he is made of, everything has its time".
