British Lewis Hamilton Wins British Formula 1 Grand Prix
The British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who started from pole position, emerged victorious this Sunday at the British Formula 1 Grand Prix, at the Silverstone circuit, ahead of his teammate Nico Rosberg and Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
In the World Championship standings, Hamilton is now only four points behind Rosberg, the current leader... unless the German is penalized for some radio conversations with his team after the race, when he suffered gearbox problems.
This is Hamilton's 47th victory in F1, four of them this season, and four in Silverstone, the last three consecutively since 2014 at the English temple of speed.
The English three-time world champion had a nearly flawless race, ahead of nearly 100,000 fans in the stands.
The race did not start until the sixth lap after a safety car start due to the rain that flooded the track.
The Ferraris had to settle for 5th place for Kimi Räikkönen and 9th place for Sebastian Vettel after being once again overtaken by the Red Bulls of Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, who finished just off the podium.
