One of the men who has generated the most power with the bat in the Tampa Bay Rays lineup will miss the rest of the regular season due to a fracture in his right hand. Center fielder José Siri has been placed on the 10-day Injured List after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning of Monday's September 12th game against the Minnesota Twins.

Siri was hit by a pitch from Dylan Floro and although he was able to complete the half inning, he was immediately replaced defensively at the start of the top of the sixth inning.

According to statements from manager Kevin Cash, the team expects Siri to miss at least three weeks of action. This puts him, if everything goes as expected, on track for a possible return just in time for the start of the postseason, a stage that the Rays apparently will enter without much trouble, with only 17 games remaining in the current season and an 8.5-game lead over the second wild card, the Toronto Blue Jays. After these statements, the team confirmed the move through their official social media channels.

Meanwhile, the Rays will be without one of their main outfield defenders for the remainder of the season. Currently, "The Ray" has a Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) of 9 in 830.2 defensive innings during 2023, according to Statcast.

Offensively, the Dominican has found his power this season, hitting 25 home runs so far with 56 runs batted in, both are career highs. Despite the high number of strikeouts he has received and a low batting average of .222, the Dominican has a slugging percentage (SLG) of .494 and an OPS+ of 105, along with 167 stolen bases and twelve stolen bases in fifteen attempts.
