The national team that will represent the country in the Glasgow Cycling World Championship has defined its eight cyclists. Egan Bernal was consulted but declined.
The competition will take place from August 5th to 13th in Scotland, with road and time trial events. Egan Bernal received a call and told ESPN the reasons why he won't be there.
"The truth is that they did contact me, but it's a route that doesn't favor me at all, and I don't think I will contribute much. Taking a climber, or me being a climber, to a completely flat World Championship, in a circuit with a thousand curves, I won't be able to do much there. We have to be realistic, honest with myself, with the team, and maybe wait for another opportunity," he explained.
The team, which does not include Nairo Quintana, is made up of Miguel Ángel López, Walter Vargas, Rigoberto Urán, Fernando Gaviria, Santiago Buitrago, Sebastián Molano, Harold Tejada, and Rodrigo Contreras.
