Nicolás Fuchs ready for his WRC2 2016 debut at Rally Mexico [VIDEO]

Jueves 25 de Febrero del 2016

These are not the same nerves as that World Cup debut in 2009, but Nicolás Fuchs counts the hours with the same eagerness to get in his new car and be part of the World Rally Championship again. Next week, he will race in the Rally de México, marking the start of his fifth complete world championship, the third of which he will compete in the WRC2.

Nervous Return

It's not the same nerves as that debut in the 2009 World Cup, but Nicolás Fuchs counts the hours with the same anxiety to get on his new car and be part of the Rally World Cup again. Next week he races in the Rally Mexico, the start of his fifth complete world cup, the third that he does in the WRC2.

After a 2015 with many setbacks, Nicolás Fuchs bet on change and this year he will get on a Skoda, a car with more power than last year's Ford. The confidence is complete, and even more because they will work with the Wevers Sport team, the same one that made Nasser Al-Attiyah champion in the last season.

"We have seen all the details since last year to search until the last second to win," says Nicolás. The driver has had the opportunity to dismantle and assemble the car to fully understand it and his conclusions are satisfying.

"Not only the Skoda gives us peace of mind, it's everything we've done. From the psychological part to having a good team and a good car," he concludes.

Aztec Lands

"I have always liked Mexico. I think it's the best race in the world cup," says Nicolás, who has done well every time he has raced there. In 2010, he achieved his first podium in the world cup (see table) and in 2013 he won in the production category in the second round of that championship.

His Debuts

Year Event Position
2009 Rally Argentina 4th
2010 Rally Mexico 3rd
2011 Rally Sweden 3rd
2012 Rally Mexico 2nd
2013 Rally Sweden 2nd
2014 Rally Mexico 6th
2015 Rally Mexico 2nd

"Each season brings some nerves, but we are calm because we have worked well and that is the fundamental thing," replies his co-pilot Fernando Mussano, with whom he has been racing since 2011.

The altitude and high temperatures will be the first challenge to overcome. The 2,737 meters above sea level will test each of the crews, as cars lose up to 20% of their power.

The Peruvian team is ready for the start of the season. The car is already in Mexico and the enthusiasm is already accumulating in the suitcases. Fuchs begins his journey to glory and will not stop until he achieves it.
