Checo Pérez, on "Hugo Sánchez presente" on Star+, admitted that he doesn't want to be 40 years old and still in the top category of motorsport
Checo Pérez is clear about his goals, not being in Formula 1 beyond 2027, since with a long-standing experience of 12 years in the premier circuit and in his second season with Red Bull, the Mexican driver knows perfectly well when to put an end to his time in the premier circuit.
In an interview for the program 'Hugo Sánchez presenta', Checo Pérez mentioned that he doesn't want to be competing at 40, as he wants to compete only with full motivation and also wants to enjoy his family.
"I would like to be in for four or five more seasons. There are very good drivers over 40, but I wouldn't like to reach 40 and still be in Formula 1, I want to do other things in life. I've done this my whole life," he said.
Similarly, Checo Pérez mentioned that "I have young children that I also want to enjoy and as long as I remain excited and preparing with that excitement and giving my all, I couldn't be in F1 and give 95%, as long as I'm giving 100% of myself, I don't know how long it will be, but I will always continue."
Checo Pérez acknowledged that fatherhood made him see life differently and "I have to justify all of this and for me to miss important years, it has to be something that is really worth it."
"His arrival changed me a lot. I realized that time passes quickly. I used to feel that being in my 20s or 30s was just a number, I prepared the same way and everything continued, but when I had my first child and spent two or three weeks apart, I saw that time did pass and it was important. For me to miss important years, it has to be worth it and I will only do it by giving 100% of myself and now I am focused and I have their full support and it is very important," he said.
Similarly, Checo Pérez expressed that after retiring he doesn't want to continue in Formula 1, as he wants to disappear from the spotlight and then consider coming back.
"I want to completely change my life. Try different things. Learn about the business world. The easiest thing would be to stay involved because in this world I would have opportunities and I want something different, something very different, and maybe I'll miss it and come back later, but I want to focus my life on other things and have a quieter life, away from so many cameras," he asserted.
