Stephane Peterhansel wins Dakar 2016
The Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel won the Dakar 2016 for the twelfth time, the first with the Peugeot brand in the golden history of 'Monsieur Dakar'.
Peterhansel's achievements
Stephane Peterhansel won six titles in motorcycles (1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, and 1998) and six in cars (2004, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2013, and 2016). He finished first, managing a large advantage over his runner-up, Qatari Nasser Al Attiyah (Mini), the defending champion, who finished 34:58 minutes behind.
Peugeot's triumph
Peugeot achieved its first victory in the second year since its return to the Dakar 2016 thanks to the great performance of Stephane Peterhansel, one of the icons of this competition.
