Peruvian Paradeportists Shine in Spanish Parabádminton International 2021

In an outstanding performance abroad, paradeportists Giuliana Poveda and Pilar Jáuregui stood out in the Spanish Parabádminton International 2021, which concludes this Sunday.

Giuliana Poveda won the gold medal and Pilar Jáuregui reached the final of the Spanish Parabádminton International 2021, the last tournament in the qualification route for the 2020 Paralympic Games Tokyo.

Poveda, the current world champion in the SH6 category, showed her quality by defeating every competitor in her path. She played four matches and won them all, securing Peru's first gold in this tournament.

Meanwhile, Pilar Jáuregui, paired with Italian Yuri Ferrigno, will play the mixed doubles final in the WH1-WH2 category this Sunday. Their opponents will be Koreans Kim Kyunghoon and Kang Jungkum.

The parabádminton team is having a great tournament in Spain, and proof of this is that we have already secured the following medals:

  • Gold: Giuliana Poveda (Singles SH6)
  • Silver: Jesús Salvá – Alexander Mekhdiev (Doubles SH6)
  • Bronze: Pilar Jáuregui (Singles WH2)

  • Bronze: Pedro Pablo De Vinatea – Raúl Anguiano (Doubles SL3 – SL4)
