Napoli Moves Up to 2nd in Serie A Standings with 5-1 Victory over Udinese
Napoli moved up to second place in the Italian championship thanks to their 5-1 victory over Udinese on Tuesday at the start of the 36th matchday, putting pressure on Juventus, now three points away from the next Champions League - top four spots.
In the intense race to qualify for the next edition of the top continental competition, only four points separate a quartet of top-notch teams fighting for three spots: Napoli, Atalanta, Milan, and Juventus.
An opportunistic goal by Polish player Piotr Zielinski (28), taking advantage of the rebound from a shot by Victor Osimhen, launched Napoli forward.
This was followed by a missile of a goal from Spanish player Fabián Ruiz (31) and goals from Mexican player Hirving Lozano (58), Giovanni Di Lorenzo (66), and captain Lorenzo Insigne in stoppage time (90+1).
Stefano Okaka (41) scored the only goal for Udinese to reduce the deficit.
Napoli, who have not suffered a defeat in the league in the last 14 matches, sit in second place, awaiting the results of their rivals on Wednesday.
