Quito -
Five days before the start of the Copa Sudamericana for El Nacional, "there has been no discussion" about the starting goalkeeper position, which DT Eduardo Lara will have to define between Johan Padilla and Máximo Banguera, the goalkeeper who arrived as reinforcement for this season.
Banguera is optimistic about his performance in the team and what they can fight for this year in the three tournaments they will compete in, including local cups and the Sudamericana.
"I have no shame in saying it, we are in search of a title, I believe we have a good squad and with hard work, we can achieve it. We are putting it in our heads that we want a title, dreams can come true and that's ours, we dream of the title this year, that the fans support us because I know we will fight with this group that has been formed," said the 34-year-old goalkeeper.
The Guayaquil native highlighted the work of his teammate Padilla. "He is the best goalkeeper in Ecuadorian football," Banguera said, pointing out that the starting position in goal is a topic that has not been discussed within the team.
"We have not talked about it, that is something that should be determined through hard work in order to make it difficult for the coach (Lara) to choose. We have to work and with that, it will be seen who is the starting goalkeeper, and if we have to be on the sidelines, we will have to support the group because the benefit will be for everyone who is part of El Nacional," Banguera pointed out.
The "criollos" start the Copa as visitors against Fénix, for which the team will travel to Uruguay on Sunday. (D)
