Regarding the differences between his previous stage and the current one, he is aware that they exist: "It's a bit different. Car navigation is more precise, on a motorcycle there was more improvisation, you had more vision. In the car, between the HANS, the seat...your vision is more restricted. The countdown of meters to the next danger, with more speed, has to be much more precise."

"It is an exercise that we are already doing well with Fernando, improving the vocabulary we use to identify things, not using confusing words, or very long, difficult to pronounce... it's something we also have to build. It's quite different from the motorcycle. The philosophy itself is the same, but the moment of applying it is different," he opined.

The rally in Morocco that they have both already shared invites optimism: "The experience of all the kilometers traveled in all these deserts around the world, not only in the Dakar, I hope it serves me for something."

"The truth is that the two days they gave us the roadbook in Morocco in the morning, without time to prepare, we felt good. We didn't make mistakes and I think it's a good decision for the spirit of the race, where navigators will have their importance," he pointed out.

Despite this, some seem to doubt his ability, as is the case of the Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel, who in statements later rectified considered that Alonso was wrong to choose him for his debut.

"I spoke with him because at first, I didn't understand very well what he was trying to say. He told me that there had been a translation problem at the event, which was in Italy, and he spoke in French. But it's true, my experience as a co-pilot is really limited," he said.

"Even so, I feel that I can contribute much more than what I have to learn. With the attitude of adding up and contributing. Logically, time will tell if Fernando has made a mistake or not. I will do my best to make it not be so," he expressed.

He is also willing to continue learning with the help, for example, of his teammates: "Currently, Toyota is the most powerful team in the discipline, there is a team of teammates, both drivers and co-pilots, who already have some titles that are difficult to find in the discipline."

"Logically, there is an interaction where we try to always work in the same direction, and they know that both Fernando and I have things to learn, and they transmit them to us. I think it is a very good combination," he said.
