The leader is out
Richard Palomino, aboard his Peugeot 208, had to abandon the Caminos del Inca 2019 due to an accident that caused the rollover of his vehicle when he was just a few kilometers away from the starting point in Pucchun. The Peruvian pilot was the leader of the overall standings and a candidate to win the title of this competition.
The Caminos del Inca ended prematurely for Richard Palomino, defending champion of the overall title won in 2018, who suffered a crash and rollover in the last stage.
The punctured left rear tire would be the cause of the accident suffered by the Peruvian driver aboard the Peugeot 208 competing in the RC2 category. According to witnesses, the tire burst and that caused the car to flip multiple times. Fortunately, both the driver and co-pilot were unhurt.
Without Palomino in competition, the fight for the Caminos del Inca title is between Víctor Cárdenas and his Honda Civic (S2000) and Lucho Alayza aboard the Toyota GT 86 (Super Touring), separated by one minute after Palomino's crash.
