Sergio Perez returns to the Sakhir track for the Bahrain Grand Prix, where the Mexican driver achieved his first podium with Force India in 2014 - he finished third.
"I'm excited about this weekend's race because Bahrain is a track with happy memories for me," said the Mexican about the second race of the season.
Checo finished 11th in the first race of the 2018 calendar, just one position away from scoring his first point of the campaign. The VJM11 was overtaken by the cars of Renault, Haas, and McLaren, and there is a feeling that Force India is no longer the best midfield team.
Perez believes that they have to wait for the diagnoses, while the team will provide him with a new front wing for this race - a new item in the package they introduced in Australia.
"It's a completely different challenge from Melbourne, but we have to wait at least four races to have an idea of where each team stands."
"Tomorrow's focus is to continue understanding the package we brought to Australia. We don't know what the impact of the new parts we've brought here will be until we are on the track, but I believe they will help us."
"There is room for improvement. We are working hard and we will close the gap. We need to evaluate the new parts and find a way to make the whole package work as best as possible."
