Android and iOS devices are preparing for an invasion of games similar to Pokémon GO. Niantic's game has been the king of augmented reality and the use of a map like Google Maps, but this could soon change.
Google Maps would be opening its tracking platform to give game developers more possibilities for creation. Using augmented reality for new releases like Ghostbusters World, Jurassic World Alive, or Pokémon GO will be much simpler.
Google's API gives the possibility to turn roads, highways, houses, and buildings into fantasy worlds. Through the Unity game engine, the resources of cities can be used to bring thousands of video games to life.
Pokémon GO will possibly have much more competition soon with games powered by Google Maps. A promotional video showed how cities could be transformed into impressive scenarios for adventures and role-playing games.
