With just 17 years of age, the Bolivian Marco Bulacia Wilkinson fulfills the debut weekend in the WRC2, the second category of the World Rally Championship, in the third round of the championship in Guanajuato.

The member of the Ford Fiesta team has state support to compete at this level and even visited the country's president, Evo Morales, before starting his journey in the championship endorsed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

The son of a pilot who was in the Dakar a few months ago, has started well in Leon, despite the obstacles of the route.

"It's a bit difficult, we are getting used to the lines made by the WRC cars, they are different from what I used to do and that is what is costing me, then with the car we have problems with water and oil temperature and because of that we have to slow down and even turn it off to save the engine," he said after the first cut in the second day of activities in the Rally Mexico.

Accompanied by the Argentine Fernando Musano as a co-pilot, Bulacia ruled out that competing in an event like the WRC2 is a burden.

"It's easy to drive when you're within the line, it's not complicated at all, but once you get off the line, difficulties begin," he explained.

One of the main problems of this Rally Mexico for the rest of the drivers is the altitude of certain regions of Guanajuato, which affects the cars but also the drivers physically, something that does not bother the 17 year old, since Bolivia is one of the countries that can be compared with Mexico in that aspect.

"It doesn't affect me much, in the part where I live in Bolivia there's not much altitude, but we often go to places where there is and I've gotten used to it since I was a child."

What was left pending in Guanajuato was the duel between the two youngest drivers in WRC2, because the Bolivian could not compete against the Finn Kalle Rovanpera, son of the legend Harri, who is just four days younger.

"The fight is something beautiful because he is a very good driver, too bad he stayed in the first stage because he could have had a good race."
