Lobos takes a genuine breath amid crisis of results
Lobos took a genuine breath amid its crisis of results, after defeating Bravos de Juárez 3-0, at the start of Matchday 4 of the Copa MX, which took place on Tuesday night at Ciudad Universitaria, representing the opportunity to qualify for the Round of 16 for the team from Puebla.
The match favored the home team from the beginning, as they repeatedly reached the opponent's goal with clarity, but unfortunately for the student's cause, none of them resulted in a goal, a situation that made it seem like the agony of Rafael Puente's players would continue.
However, when the clock marked the 18th minute, Jerónimo Amione, former player of La Franja, emerged on the scene. After a rebound in the area, he surprised everyone and scored, establishing the 1-0 that wrote the history for the home team, who gradually started to neutralize any attempt of a counterattack from their rivals.
Shortly before the obligatory pause, Bravos made themselves present with a shot by Carlos Ibarguen who, in the 39th minute, unleashed a dangerous shot that turned out to be a mere warning. Later on, they replicated the same, albeit without any consequences, with the free-kick taken by Johan Arango, which concluded the first half.
Upon returning from halftime, Lobos insisted with some approaches, such as the one that came from the boots of Rodrigo Godínez in the 53rd minute, which alerted the border team. Moments later, they faltered in their defensive zone, a mistake that Lobos didn't forgive and thus generated the goal that sealed the match.
Right after surpassing the 57th minute on the clock, Amione scored his second goal of the night. He escaped with speed and skillfully finished the play against the opposing goalkeeper, who couldn't do anything to prevent the celebration that established the 2-0 score, which would later increase for the BUAP team.
It was in the 90th minute when “El Exorcista” Diego Jiménez appeared in the area, he received a pass from Amaury Escoto and skillfully finished the play, thus sealing the final 3-0 that is a true balm for the team from Angelópolis, who will now fully concentrate on their League match next Saturday against Atlas.
Thus, in the Copa MX, Lobos reaches six points to take the lead of Group 5, while Juárez stays with 3 points, awaiting the last two matches of the regular stage of the tournament.
