Fernanda Kanno
Fernanda Kanno made history in the 2018 Dakar, becoming the first Peruvian woman to compete in the world's most extreme rally. However, the journalist was unable to complete the 14 stages of the race.
After completing stage 11, Fernanda Kanno experienced mechanical problems that prevented her from starting the last Thursday towards San Juan. And she couldn't hide her tears of frustration after being forced to abandon the competition.
"We are out of the race, but we are still going to continue to Córdoba. So we are happy and extremely grateful," said Fernanda Kanno, who then became emotional about the support she received from Peruvian fans.
"I want to thank everyone for the comments and the good vibes you have sent us all this time. We didn't expect to receive so much love," said the journalist tearfully.
Until before the start of the penultimate stage of the 2018 Dakar, there were only six Peruvian crews left in the race: Sebastián Cavallero (motorcycles), Oswaldo Burga (motorcycles), Alexis Hernández (quads), Rómulo Airaldi (quads), Fernando Ferrand (cars), and Juan Carlos Vallejo (cars).
