There are endless challenges that a driver has to face in the Rally Dakar. Especially when you compete in the trucks category and, by some stroke of fate, your gigantic machine ends up overturned on the sand.
That is precisely what the Dutchman Janus van Kasteren experienced during the fifth stage of the Rally Dakar, held last Wednesday in Peru, between San Juan de Marcona and Arequipa.
As can be seen in a video that has been circulating on social networks, Van Kasteren went through a whole ordeal to lift his gigantic truck. He needed the help of his compatriot Richard de Groot.
Despite sacrificing some minutes in the general classification, De Groot stopped for several minutes to assist the Mammoet Rally Sport team. And after several attempts, he managed to put the truck back on its wheels.
In gratitude for his compatriot's great gesture of solidarity, Janus van Kasteren thanked him by bowing. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to do it.
