Rally Dakar 2018: Peruvian Alexis Hernández finishes second in the general classification
Peruvian quad rider Alexis Hernández finished second in the general classification of the Rally Dakar 2018 after the fifth day of testing, which connected San Juan de Marcona with Arequipa in the penultimate stage on Wednesday.
With a time of 04h19m22s, Alexis Hernández finished third in the stage behind Chilean Ignacio Casale and the day's winner, Argentine Nicolás Cavigliasso.
This result allowed the Peruvian athlete to climb in the classification and enter the fight for the top spot. Our quad rider has a total time of 17h55m05s, just over 40 minutes behind the category leader, Chilean Ignacio Casale, in a nice duel of South American quad riders.
This stage stood out for the vehicles passing through the Tanaka desert, with a total distance of 774 kilometers divided into a special stage of 266 kilometers and a liaison stage of 508 kilometers, along the town of San Juan de Marcona to Arequipa.
