Nicolás Fuchs is the main hope of the Peruvian team in the 2018 Rally Dakar. Riding his Borgward BX7, along with his Argentine co-pilot, Fernando Mussano, the Peruvian driver finished third in the first stage of 31 kilometers between Lima and Pisco.
Fuchs shined in the Peruvian dunes and completed the stage with a time of 22 minutes and 25 seconds, 34 seconds behind Qatari Sheikh Nasser Al-Attiyah who led the leaderboard. Dutchman Ben Ten Brinke finished second. "We finished the special of the day 34 seconds behind @AlAttiyahN. And this is just the beginning," Fuchs posted on his Twitter account.
Fact: Nicolás Fuchs is participating in his second Rally Dakar. In the first one, which was in 2017, he finished 12th after completing twelve stages.
